SD Card Recovery
You have accidentally deleted a photo or wiped your card.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
Well not all is lost, these files may be able to be recovered.
There is clever software out there that you can down load for free and this will recover your data.
If you have a full card and delete photos to make space, then fill the space with more images, then yes you would have lost your deleted images, but when you delete images it is the counter/index which is deleted, not the image so the image could be recovered.

HSS
High Speed Sync HSS
Most dslr cameras flash will sync up to a shutter speed at around 1/250th second. With HSS you can push this all the way to 1/800th.
Good
When you are out doors in bright sunshine and you want fill flash and shallow depth of field.
When you've accidently left your on high ISO, so basically you can shoot on Av, e.g. you're at a wedding and you've just moved from inside the church to bright sunshine.
Bad
Less power as you go faster.

Short Lighting
Short light. For portrait, the direction of the light is on the side of the face turned away from the camera.
Adds a 3D effect to the image, makes the face look thinner and adds character to wrinkled faces.

More flattering for older women reducing the sign of wrinkles.

Manual Exposure
A quick way to get a good exposure in tricky, high contrast lighting conditions is to take an exposure of the back of your own hand.

You're having a laugh
Not all images of people laughing look good!
As the laughter slows the beautiful, natural smiles begin.
